THE BISCUIT BOX THEATER COMPANY PRESENTS EDWARD ALBEE’S PROVOCATIVE AND INSIGHTFUL THE ZOO STORY AND DAVID IVES’ HILARIOUS CAPTIVE AUDIENCE and MYSTERY AT TWICKNAM VICARAGE OCTOBER 3-5 AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF LEXINGTON
|

Opening its second season, the Biscuit Box Theater Company will present The Zoo Story, Captive
Audience, and Mystery at Twicknam Vicarage, October 3-5 at the First Baptist Church of Lexington.
On the surface The Zoo Story depicts a simple meeting of two men in Central Park. One is trapped in
alienation and loneliness, the other in the humdrum life of the white-collar executive. The attempt to bridge the
gap between them builds to a shattering, violent climax. Written in 1958, The Zoo Story marked the emergence
of Edward Albee as a powerful voice in 20th century American drama.
Everyday alienation appears again in Captive Audience by David Ives. It is a comedy about our relationship to
television: do we control it or does it control us? It follows two characters who find it deceptively difficult to turn
off the talking box in the middle of their living room.
Mystery at Twicknam Vicarage, also by David Ives, is a hilarious parody of Masterpiece Theater-style
English drawing-room mysteries.
The performances are Friday, October 3 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, October 4th at 2 p.m.; Saturday, October 4th at
8 p.m.; Sunday, October 5th at 8 p.m.
